What You'll Do
It’s Papi’s official #34 retirement ceremony at Fenway on June 23, and he wants you there. You’ll join David Ortiz for all the festivities, starting at the House of Blues where you’ll attend David’s celebrity comedy roast and watch the loving jabs fly. Then, you’ll hit the park together. After giving you one of his world-famous hugs and snapping some pics together, Papi will sign a personal autograph on your new Red Sox jersey. And after a stadium-full of applause for Big Papi, you’ll watch the Red Sox officially retire #34. Then, the game begins and you’ll watch front and center from Red Sox owner's seats near the Red Sox dugout. Plenty of peanuts and popcorn included. Get in on the home stretch. Flights and hotel are on us.
No donation or payment is necessary to enter or win this sweepstakes.
Who You'll Help
DAVID ORTIZ CHILDREN'S FUND
Every year, 4,000 children in the New England area and in the Dominican Republic are born with congenital heart failure (CHF) and will die without surgery before the age of two. The David Ortiz Children’s Fund (DOCF) is committed to helping children in New England and the Dominican Republic who do not have access to the critical pediatric services they need. We are proud to partner with Massachusetts General Hospital for Children (MGHfC) in Massachusetts and CEDIMAT Hospital in the Dominican Republic to fulfill this mission. Working together, we are increasing the number of children receiving lifesaving heart surgeries. Our goals are to save as many children’s lives as possible and to never turn a child away for heart surgery due to a lack of funds.
RED SOX FOUNDATION
The official team charity of the Boston Red Sox, the Red Sox Foundation has distributed over $93 million to support programs serving children and families across New England. A 501c3 nonprofit, the Red Sox Foundation raises most of its funds through special events and charitable donations. The Red Sox Foundation has won numerous awards for the impact of its innovative programs. The Foundation’s Red Sox Scholars program was recognized by Major League Baseball with the first-ever “MLB Commissioner’s Award for Philanthropic Excellence and was also honored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Sports Philanthropy Project with the Patterson Award as the nation’s “Best Team Charity in Sports.” In 2017, Red Sox Foundation will celebrate its 15th Anniversary Year of Making a Difference.
