About the cause
The Special Olympics World Games will be the world’s largest sports and humanitarian event in the world in 2015. The World Games unite the globe through sports in a celebration of the abilities and accomplishments of people with intellectual disabilities. The World Games promote equality, acceptance, and inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities around the world and is one of the most powerful vehicles for communicating to the world the abilities and gifts of people with intellectual disabilities. The Games are helping to make the world a better, healthier and more joyful place – one athlete, one volunteer, one family member at a time.
