The Progeria Research Foundation
About the cause
The Progeria Research Foundation's (PRF) mission is to discover treatments and the cure for Progeria, as well as aging-related disorders like heart disease. Progeria is a fatal, "rapid aging" disease afflicting children, who then die of heart disease at an average age of 14 years. They not only work toward future treatments and a cure, but also help children currently living with Progeria, providing hope—where none had existed before—that these remarkable children will live long and healthy lives. PRF's research efforts have established a definitive connection between Progeria, heart disease and normal aging. Finding the cure for one of the rarest diseases on earth, may also help millions of adults with heart disease and the entire aging population.
